![]() 08/18/2014 at 21:58 |

Your 2.0L takes more than my 5.7? You must have a turbo/supercharger
My 5.7L takes 7qts of oil, the 2.0 I DD takes 4.6qts.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 21:59 |

the baja bug (something north of 1600cc) takes about six or seven gallons of oil an hour these days I mean four quarts of 10w30
![]() 08/18/2014 at 21:59 |
|
I do have a turbo but the ....er.... original engine takes 5 quarts, the engine I selected came with an oversize pan from GM haha
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:01 |
|
4 qts of oil, 1 cup of rubber cement?
Or just do some 50 weight....quiets engine noise and stop leaks, just cranks hard as a mother fucker.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:01 |

Impreza, 2.0 boxer, 5.3 quarts. Technically not my car but whatever.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:02 |

My 1.6L 4AGE takes 4.1, 1.9L M44 takes 5.3 and 2.5L M54 takes 6.5
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:03 |

4age.....mmmmm
I had a redtop in my AW11 and I planned a 4age blacktop swap in my Corolla but it never fell through

AW11!!!! Thats what I have :D Mines got over 200k, did a new O2 sensor, air filter, plugs and wires today, runs like new (except for the valve cover gasket that spews oil) and I managed 38MPG round trip for a 100 miles today, awesome little engines!!
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:07 |
|
Mine uses oil made of babies blood, so mine costs more.
And I change mine every 3 thousand miles or less....oh and every other oil change I have to change gear oil.....fuckmylife.

2007 Avalanche with 5.8, aluminum block and drinks oil like water. Mt FRS doesn't appear to use any and my Diesel Golf nips at it ever so slightly.

Looks like a Cobalt ss in the picture.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:12 |

My old NA consumed none, well the stockish one.
The Supercharged was another story....
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:12 |
|
2.0 TDI with 3 pedals! Sadly not brown :( I think your oil capacity to displacement is because the Cobalts have a deep oil pan... perfect for hitting rocks or bottoming out on >:D
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:12 |
|
1.8l 4 quarts. I got 230k miles and I'm 1k into my latest oil change and it's still coming out caramel colored. I love it.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:12 |
|
Your car is modded right … is that why you change it so often?
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:13 |
|
I did 50 weight in a few cars to sell.....it worked til the next oil change. the winter just made it super hard to start, and usually needed a jump to get enough power to the starter to get it to turn the oil
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:14 |

S65B40 - 4.0L. Takes 9 liters of 10W-60, full synthetic, of course
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:16 |

supercharged NA...noice. I haven't noticed anything out of the exhaust pipe and I don't smell anything burning haha
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:17 |

Mine isn't the original engine lol
Mine is an A20NFT if you google that it mgiht return some information.
Butttttt long story shourt I have a super rare engine with a super deep pan, but the pan is stock.
The regular engine had 5qt pan.
And Take that to a dealer to be APR tuned......everyone is curious
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:18 |

By the way it's $14.50 per liter. M3 problems.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:18 |
|
Ah, and no. I'm 17, I have no money, and it is my first car so I'd like to keep it completely stock :)
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:19 |

Yeah my dad tells me stories about my grandfather being the only one in town to understand this back in the 1950s. He said on a cold winter day he was the only one who could start his car because he was the only one who changed is oil out to a lighter viscosity when the season turned. Everyone thought he was some kind of wizard or master mechanic. He was just a really sharp foundry worker, but his son became an engineer, and his grandson designs artificial limbs. ;)
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:19 |
|
That's why I change it often, I also tear apart oil filters checking for metal....cause I'm anal about that stuff.
Mostly the reason I change it is because the high pressure fuel pumps in the Cobalts and any direct injection car leak fuel into the oil, and i have panic attacks that fuel is in my oil thinning it out like a 30 year old hair line.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:20 |

The Safari with the 4.3L V6 takes 4.5 quarts of oil.
That feels low to me.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:21 |
|
Dammit....it technically is factory lol
I know a few people at the VW dealer who want to see the APR tuned TDI
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:21 |
|
That is pretty low lol
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:23 |
|
I never smelt any either, but it burned a bit, nothign spectacular, like a quart per thousand miles.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:24 |
|
Don't matter regardless, so fun to drive
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:25 |

They are a ball.
I always had a smile on my face when I drove mine, even in the rain with no top wearing a trashbag.....
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:25 |

ooooh
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:27 |

At work this summer for Enterprise I parked mine in a place where I always had to pass it in the lot. Just made the wait for the drive home that much better.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:27 |
|
my first car was a 72 MGB that had sat outside with the cylinder head removed for nearly a decade. Not knowing better, i used a brass scraper and a lot of oil and managed to get most of the rust out of the cylinders and get the engine turning again. It ran, and I had to add about 2 quarts for every tank of gas, so I never changed the oil in it.
Amidoingitright?
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:28 |

wait, how did you know about the rubber??
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:28 |

3.5L I6, takes 4.7 quarts of 20w50
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:29 |

Mine had 65k on it when I got it the summer before last. I still technically own it but its location is not known....
Great engine, great car
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:31 |

Lucky guess
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:31 |
|
Ouch, and 65k?!?!? Thats borderline abuse and neglect!!
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:33 |
|
It was garaged all its life, it was an 87 i think.
The whole sale thing was sketchy, I parked it, went to see it one day and it was gone.
the key was hidden in it, so I assume it was moved somewhere better by someone with good intentions,
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:37 |

That really sucks man
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:38 |

In all honesty shit happens, I drove the car, I ran the piss out of it, I just hope whereever it is no it is beign enjoyed.
I never got to drive it daily, but I got to it at least once a week or so
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:42 |

M54 bmw 325 xi 2.5 liter takes 7.9 qts. WTF
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:45 |
|
I love my Coupe for that reason, people assume its cramped, I can take my lady for rides, we can go out on dates with no issue, if we have kids I do have room for them.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:45 |

4.2l I-6 takes 7 quarts.
2.5l I-5 takes 6.3 quarts.
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:46 |

That is the issue with the AW11… but kids aren't in the foreseeable future so hopefully by the time they come around Ill have an E39 M5
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:48 |
|
Kids are a possibility for me haha
![]() 08/18/2014 at 22:50 |

Haha we're both in 6 year healthcare profession programs with 3 left for both of us so theoretically (in my mind at least) Ive got 4 or 5 to go before they're a possibility

Camry 2.2 I4 (5S-FE): a little under 4qts (3.8 liters in my language) at oil change time.
CR-X 1.5 I4 (D15B): around 3.5qts
![]() 08/18/2014 at 23:51 |

I actually have no idea what my SHO takes, (might be good to know, any one who does know how much oil a '91 SHO Taurus takes, please do tell,) but I do know that the JPS takes 13 liters of oil in its 2.8 V6 because of the remote oil filter, HUGE oil cooler and turbo.
![]() 08/19/2014 at 00:00 |
|
599cc takes a little over 4 quarts.
Though the bike shares the oil between the engine and trans from what I've been told
![]() 08/19/2014 at 00:54 |

my 4.5 I6 takes 8 quarts. it also has oil jets for the pistons for some reason.
![]() 08/19/2014 at 01:46 |

5.7L V8 takes 6.5qts on a change with filter. More if I flush the cooler.
4.6L V8 takes 6qts, same deal.
3.5L V6 takes 5qts, no oil cooler.
![]() 08/19/2014 at 01:50 |

oh yeah, my car takes unicorn tears and dragons saliva to oil it up with.
![]() 08/19/2014 at 04:06 |

2.0l 16v , 4 litres of 15w-40 , original engine was 7 litres every 15,000km and that was 20w-60 towards the end
![]() 08/19/2014 at 10:34 |

B6 A4, 3.0 v6 takes 6.7 quarts. But...find myself adding about 1/3 of a quart every couple months between changes. No leaks.
![]() 08/19/2014 at 11:20 |

SR20DET: 2.0L - 4 quarts
1JZGTE: 2.5L - 7 quarts WOAH

Mine has those too lol
![]() 08/19/2014 at 17:17 |

on an forced induction car it makes sense, i have a 9:1 compression ratio and am naturally aspirated.
![]() 08/19/2014 at 18:02 |
|
I'm at 9.5:1.....how? what,,,,,why so low?
![]() 08/19/2014 at 18:03 |
|
because 247,000 miles and no cylinder wall scoring and no main bearing wear.

BMW N55B30, Turbocharged 3.0L Inline 6. Takes exactly 6 Quarts of 5W30.
